“Giorgio Bargioni” Award
The Producers Association Garda DOP Extra Virgin Olive Oil invites all its members to “ Giorgio Bargioni Award”, the first edition of the “Campionato interregionale di potatura dell’olivo” will be Saturday 16th April 2016 in Manerba del Garda (BS) with the partecipation of AIPOL Soc. Coop. Agricola. The first prize of the competiton is the electric scissor Felco F800, for the second and third positions the prizes are the pruning manual equipment.

The meeting, both for public and partecipants, is set for 9.00 am on Saturday 16th April, near the car Parking of the Bank of Brescia.

The award is dedicated to Giorgio Bargioni, professor and agronomist to whom the oliveculture of the Garda territory is deeply grateful because of his attention and care for the first Garda olive oil producers.
The credits for the existence of the DOP denomination actually belongs to Giorgio Bargioni. He conducted some study and research activities, he also was an international precursor of the plants glass moltiplication and the director of Istitutions and Scientific periodicals.
Giorgio Bargioni also curated the Oliveculture class at the University of Verona from 2004 to 2007. The olive tree was probably the plant he loved and studied the most, a “wonderful tree, always resurgent, symbol of peace, energy and generosity” mentioning his words.
