EXTRA VIRGIN DOP OLIVE OIL IS SAFE
Within the recent extra virgin olive oil fraud, Garda DOP olive oil is a synonym of a good quality safe product.
The words of the Veneto regional council member Giuseppe Pan are positive. He recently spoke about extra virgin olive oil: “Those who buy certified extra virgin olive oil with DOP protected appellation dcan keep calm about the safety and quality of what they are consuming. Expecially those who buy Garda Dop olive oil and Veneto Dop have the certainty that they are tasting the product that is the result of the squeezing of selected olives from our territory, cultivated and processed according to specific regulations, ground in olive presses that guarantee the exclusiveness of origin, flavour and biodiversity”.
Through a press release by the Veneto Region, the council member stressed ho olive oil produced in Veneto is trusted by the markets and by consumers, thanks to “the activity of Producers Associations”. In fact if on one hand the regional organs work constantly in order to guarantee maximum surveillance on the production of the two DOP, on the other hand the constant actions of tutelage and safeguard promoted by our Association in order to guarantee authenticity and quality of Garda DOP olive oil against abuse, counterfit products and improper use of the appellation. Among these there is for instance the recent redesign of the symbol – in accordance with the new regulations – an essential tool in order of recognition for the consumer who can easily distinguish the Garda oil of protected appellation from other types of oil on the market.
To sum things up, the consumer who wants to be sure when buying extra virgin olive oil of the origin of the quality can do so, knowing that – as stated by the Vice-Chairman of the Garda DOP Producers Association, Laura Turri – “quality exists and it is produced, under the appellation Garda DOP, by olive growers of the production chain of three regions: Veneto, together with Lombardy and Trentino Alto Adige, as well as the provinces of Verona, Brescia, Mantua and Trento. It is a high value product, traced and safe thanks to a careful and precise control program”.

AN OLIVE CAMPAIGN: BEHIND THE SCENE
A photo-story to sum up the 2015 campaign through the pictures took by the members of the Consortium Garda DOP Oil.
Oil Garda Dop’s comeback: a short time ago we talked about the expectations on the 2015 olive campaign using optimistic words that announced a “greater quantity of olives compared to 2014” and, above all, “quality guaranteed”. Here we are, then, to recount just this campaign: in order to do it, nothing better than a few snapshots taken directly by Garda’s growers describing their work and its stages; methods and tools which, across Garda’s territory, combine tradition with modern technologies. Let’s start from the beginning, the symbol of this work: the plastic net which, lying on the ground under the trees, collect the fallen olives. Read More

OLIVE OIL BETWEEN SACRED AND PROFANE
The history of olive oil in the Middle Ages is closely bound to Church and religions. Used during religious services, it was to much expansive to reach everybody’s table.
The olive tree in the Middle Ages and liturgy. Our olive-growing tradition has never been
as related to religion as it was during that time. If indeed oil represented the main seasoning, in the High Middle Ages things do change. From a food use, oil switches to a usage related to liturgical purposes. In the Padan Plain area, seasonings such as pig fat and lard are preferred – except for Lent – while olive oil is the fundamental element to all the Sacraments of the Church. From baptism to confirmation, including anointing of the sick. Read More
