On 24 June 2015, at the Dogana Veneta of Lazise, there was the award giving of Verona Olive Oil Contest, the first contest announced by the primo concorso indetto dalla Verona Chamber of Commerce dedicated to the oil world.

For the 2015 edition, 33 different expressions of the Verona territory were selected starting from the two DOP: the Veneto Valpolicella DOP and the Garda Orientale DOP. Eight professional tasters from AIPO (Interregional Association of Verona Olive oil Producers – technical partner of Verona Olive Oil Contest) were called to assess the selected oils.

For the category Garda Orientale DOP, here is the list of the first three positions:

• 1st place: Cà Rainene
• 2nd place: Fondo Brè – Azienda Agricola Marchese di Canossa
• 3rd place: Olio Turri

As well as the two main DOPs, Verona Olive Oil admitted to the contest also the monovarietal exta virgin olive oils Grignano, Favarol, Trep (also called Drop) and Casaliva (also called Drizzar), including even oils made up by a blend of these local cultivations. 

All 33 selected oils are present in the Verona Wine Top guide, by journalist Stefania Vinciguerra (managing editor of Doctor Wine).

The guides will be distributed in the circuit of quality Italian restaurants selected by Unioncamere which includes 1750 activities in 55 countries.
